News from Macrumors,  Recently USPTO has approved Apple's new patent application in regard of a map app. This new map app has added multiple layers browse mode which facilitates user  information browsing.

Apple names it "Interactive Map". As written in the patent description, this map app allows user to view contents in multiple layers with information include transportation, tourism, weather etc. for example,  if user searches current weather status in his location and finds a coming storm, He will be able to switch layer to navigate the nearest shopping mall or  shelter. In addition, "sub-layer" shows overlapped contents of different layers. This is actually quite like "blending mode" in Apple Map but user is free to choose what they want to be shown on the map.
This patent has linked "search" and "map" together. The improvement of intelligence can be seen from when user searches "Food" under "Travel Mode", camping supplies shops are displayed also. Similarly, if  user puts a same search term in "Tourist Mode", coffee shops or restaurants will be shown, which is much better than previous simply searches "Food" and shows restaurants around.
